Sigh.. marketing snafu

I had been waiting for the students to get back from Thanksgiving in order to begin steering them to KUAPress and the Digital Photography site so this morning I went down to see the woman responsible for sending out the Daily Bulletin push page.

“Kathleen” I said, would you put this in the Daily Bulletin for me?” and I wrote out what I wanted:

Check out the self-portraits in Digital Photography
kua.press.kua.org

I could make that a link she said. Well that’s OK I said but I don’t want it to appear as http and all the rest of that, I just want kua.press.kua.org

She said fine and I just got the push page. This is what it said:

Student Self Portraits
Check out the self-portraits from Digital Photography. Go to kua.press.kua.org to view the images.

The tool tip, which you get when you hover over the link was:” kua blog”.  So lame! And the link was:

http://www.kua.org/podium/push/Log.aspx?s=169&snd=7d0b2212-fb92-45f1-9a22-bd032faec098&url=https%3a%2f%2fwww.kua.org%2fpodium%2fkua.press.kua.org&lbl=kua.press.kua.org

which gives a 404 – page not found.

Lame! Lame! Why must people try to frill up and re-do a simple request! What the heck else would you do at a photography site than view the images? I ask you. Reminds me of those people that insist on writing “utilize” instead of “use”.

In order for any quality plan to work one must stand over the person and make sure they do what you ask, only what you ask and that they are capable of doing it.

Irritating.
