Occupied
I’ve been working on a project throughout the winter that’s been very interesting on a lot of different levels. It’s a website for the local occupy group, Occupy the Upper Valley. Dartmouth students had set up a tent on a corner of the Hanover Green and I would see it as I passed by on the way to work. I had been reading about Occupy Wall Street and was sympathetic. It all seemed pretty disorganized but it did seem as though this might be something that could really change things. I think everyone can agree that something is very wrong in our country today.
Of course we can’t agree at all on just what exactly is wrong – that’s when the fun starts. (smile)
I got an email about an educational session in White River Junction and went to that – a story for another time. I attended an Occupy the Bridge early morning protest on Ledyard Bridge, that was pretty invigorating.
I took the students tea one morning, did some supportive tweeting. I felt pretty sorry for them. It was beginning to get rather nippy, late November and they sure looked cold. Then I saw a notice somewhere – perhaps on our town list – that there was going to be a General Assembly meeting in Norwich. So I went, and it was really rather great. I did a Storify of the event, and was so enthused I wanted to work in the communications group, on a website
